The author of Body, Mind and Music, and Composing Healthcare Music, and How to Start a Music Program in Your Local Hospital or Hospice, Laurie's pioneering work in the field of healthcare music included the founding of the Music for Healing and Transition Program in 1993, and later the development of the Basic and Advanced Clinical Musicians training programs.
A professional musician since the age of ten, she also has extensive experience in clinical environments and has trained hundreds of musicians.
She is a popular keynote speaker for conferences and events. A number of Laurie's students have become well-known authors, presenters, program directors, and performers as well.

"I am in the middle of reading Body Mind and Music and just wanted to thank you for writing this great book. While I enjoy performing, there was something missing. After many years, I picked up the harp and fell in love. I found myself playing in hospitals and nursing homes and hospice. I found more joy in my life than ever before. It lead me to your course. Thank you for your insight into the soul of the musician and how it effects the music. Thank you for confirming my belief that we are all good in our own ways; that we need to support each other and that we have a gift - that is worth sharing. I have always enjoyed your music. But your heart, your insight to life & music is a gift that I did not expect to receive when I started this course."
