Some Written Remarks from Laurie's presentations and trainings
Without a doubt the course is wonderful. It has so much information that is valuable... but more than that, it has a wealth of information about the mind/body connection, about sound, about how the mind and sound/music affects so many aspects of our lives. Even if I never played for patients, it is teaching me a great deal about myself, my emotions, and how to live a richer, fuller life by opening a whole new world to me. If you've looked at other programs, you know about the enormous expense and the time involved. Laurie's course is the best bargain both financially and for the information she provides about every aspect of playing therapeutic music. Level 1 thoroughly teaches you what you need to know to get started with confidence playing the right kind of music in clinical settings. I didn't imagine what Level 2 could add, because it seemed so complete, but Level 2 has blown me away! Her required readings and her own textbooks are so valuable and absolutely fascinating on a wide variety of subjects. DO IT. You'll not regret it." - Nell Morris, student.
"I want to thank you for all you have done to promote the work of Therapeutic Music in this country, both through the founding of MHTP, and your own long career as a musician and teacher. Thank you, too, for the continual support you have given so generously to many of us who know and admire you. Many have benefitted personally and professionally from your life and work. I look forward to your future contributions and trust that you will keep us all informed of any new publications, CDs etc." - Martha O'Hehir, The Music for Healing and Transition Program

"The success of this story belongs to the hard work you have done: the hospital at which I did my HTP internship subsequently hired me. I had donated a copy of your book 'How to Start a Therapeutic Music Program in Your Local Hospital or Hospice', and it was the basis for my job description. I thank you. The book is wonderful. As a result, our Palliative Care coordinator finally succeeded in writing the words 'compassionate care' into the mission statement. All of these things came about because of the careful, credible work in your books. Above her signature on my evaluation form, my boss wrote, in capital letters, 'NEVER LEAVE'. Know that the seeds you scattered are growing into a sheltering tree and that many people are grateful." - Margaret Warczak, CMP
